Georgia Supreme Court upholds Savannah gang slaying sentence | savannahnow.com: "Georgia Supreme Court on Monday upheld the 2008 gang-related murder and sentence for Jovan 'Pig' Reeves.
Reeves was convicted in Chatham County Superior Court on Nov. 7, 2008, in the July 26, 2006, slaying of James Edward 'Cut' Cuthbert, 25, in one of several gang-related slayings here during 2006 and 2007.
The defendant was sentenced to life in prison for murder, a 20-year term for aggravated assault, and five years each for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and for possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Reeves, 30, was identified as a member of the Gwinnett Street Posse, and Cuthbert was a member of the rival Waters Avenue Crew.
Police uncovered the two groups, along with a third, the Hitch Village Posse as part of its 'Raging Waters' probe."
